No Age (with Bob Mould, performing as Husker Du) 2009-09-13 Stage Two, All Tomorrow's Parties New York 2009, Kutsher's Country Club, Monticello, NY An ACIDJACK master recording Equipment: DPA 4061 (Coresound HEB)>R-09HR (24/44.1) Position: FOB center, stealth Mastering: WAV>Audacity (tracking, set fades, downsample to 16bit, amplify each channel, slight EQ)>FLAC (level 8) My final set of ATP NY 2009 is a classic, once-in-a-lifetime occasion, and I thought the perfect way to end the weekend (no offense to the Flaming Lips, but hey, I had to work in the morning). The members of No Age came out with Bob Mould and performed a sloppy but inspired set of Husker Du classics to an approving crowd. They actually did not use all of their allotted time, which meant that unlike the sad situation where the Brian Jonestown Massacre played to an almost-empty room by the end of their set last year, people stuck around for this one. It's not going to win any musicianship awards, but it was an amazing experience for those of us who were too young to see Husker Du live to get to see Bob perform those songs. Also, musicianship isn't exactly the point here. Bradford James Cox of Deerhunter/Atlas sound also guests on the penultimate song. I had actually not seen No Age before, but this was a great intro to that band as well. I definitely encourage folks to check out their records as well as their live shows. The house mix was what we call "not amazing" for this set, and you'll hear both a somewhat off mix plus some PA problems on the vocals and instruments here and there. I had a great spot and this captures it, but it's just not the tightest-mixed set that happened this weekend. Like I said, it was also pretty rough and unrehearsed performance-wise. I did not EQ out any bass as I heard a number of people complained about the lack of a low end during this set (if that's true, this was the ONLY ATP set where that was the problem). Thanks to Kerri, Kelan and Ben for hanging out during this set and the entire weekend. And thanks to Kerri for organizing! I am seeding the shows taped in the order that I recorded them. Obviously I could not tape everything, but I got the sets I wanted to. The sets I taped and will seed here over time are as follows: The Feelies (performing Crazy Rhythms) - here: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=266543 The Dirty Three (performing Ocean Songs, with Nick Cave) - here: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=266549&viewcomm=3491107#comm3491107 Suicide (performing 1st LP) - here: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?returnto=%2Faccount-cp.php&id=266566 Grouper - here: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=266698&viewcomm=3492994#comm3492994 Atlas Sound - here: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=266708&viewcomm=3493045#comm3493045 Autolux - here: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?returnto=%2Faccount-cp.php&id=266718 Shellac - here: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=266993&viewcomm=3496788#comm3496788 The Boredoms (performing Boadrum 9) - here: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=266997&viewcomm=3496843#comm3496843 Caribou Vibration Ensemble - here: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=267051&viewcomm=3497567#comm3497567 Black Moth Super Rainbow (had to re-seed due to an error) No Age (as Husker Du, with Bob Mould) Tracks (please help out with setlist) 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 **NOT FOR COMMERCIAL USE OF ANY KIND** **SUPPORT NO AGE AND BUY THEIR RECORDS** **PLEASE DO NOT SEED TO ANOTHER SITE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION**
