Pink turns to blue (encore) Another show from the 1980s Bierkeller that I recorded in the claggy depths of the Bristol Bierkeller. Just found it after picking up a box of tapes from the loft knocked over by Julio the cat. HEALTH WARNING! The sound on this is shockingly bad but I read a plea from another Husker Du thread asking for uncirculated Husker shows. Don’t think I ever bothered copying this for anyone before as the sound is pretty bad. But… it’s from the original cassette master and it’s been transferred with no tweaking so, if you want it grab it and listen to it in good health. If you want a pristine sounding show, go elsewhere. I’ve described the Bierkeller elsewhere but, for those of you who never went there, it was a pit. Sticky carpets, damp and fetid walls, filthy toilets, low ceilings, Neanderthal security staff, expensive watery beer. The Huskers were blisteringly loud at this show but I’m sure that the low ceilings and the funky smell emanating from the toilets distorted the sound even more than the rancid PA and my steam driven tape recorder. There’s probably a more listenable recording lurking in here somewhere so, if anyone wants to clean it up, knock yourself out. I’ll post an MP3 sample so you can decide if it’s worth downloading. The tape break came between Track 15 and 16 but I’ve designed it so you can burn all 18 tracks without gaps. Anyone who can fill in the gaps for tracks 12 & 13?
